Political Commentary Explanation

The spectacle that is national politics is such a burden to us all, whether we realize it or not. Unfortunately, over the last few weeks it has been an unavoidable presence. There is enough coverage of what is happening in the national news that I try not to spend my efforts here writing about it.

In fact, I very much dislike writing about it because there is so little substance and truth involved. It is a lot of pandering and siloing. However, it has been a challenge to find the bandwidth to write about more meaningful topics while my mind was being blasted with thoughts about the events of the last few weeks.

I will spend the next three posts focusing on these issues and I’ll release them on consecutive days this week. These will present my perspective in a thoughtful and coherent manner. I feel enough time has passed to have moved beyond the knee-jerk reactions of anger, confusion, frustration, fear, sorrow, and disappointment.

All of those emotions have been felt and experienced. I wrote extensively in each of those states of mind over the last few weeks – allowing the thoughts to flow without filtering. Those writings allowed me to process how I was feeling about what was happening in a healthy way. They also distilled my thoughts into what I feel is a proper and hopeful mindset.

What I present here are those distilled thoughts. These pieces may be tinged with the aforementioned emotions but not dominated by them. After I get these thoughts out in the public space I hope to not touch these subjects again.

I think the real opportunity for growth, both large and small, starts within our own minds, homes, and communities. Continuing to explore the opportunities in those spaces is where I prefer to expend my future energies.

Should you be overwhelmed by the current state of doom and gloom and cannot stomach another dive into that pool of muck, then skip these posts. I’ll return to posting about topics of hopefully more nourishing substance on Friday.

Please take care of each other. Thanks for reading and I appreciate your attention.
