Bio

Born and raised in Washington, Pennsylvania – a suburban town about 30 miles south of Pittsburgh. I attended Washington and Jefferson College. There I studied History with ‘studied’ being a very generous term. I mostly enjoyed the social aspect of college life. Probably a bit too much. I left without a degree after four years.

Jobs in restaurant management, information technology, and the energy sector allowed me to bounce about the country and get perspectives beyond that of my hometown. I landed for a bit in Nashville, Tennessee where I decided to finish my degree in something that genuinely interested me, Journalism. I graduated in 2010 as the industry was in sharp decline.

Perhaps I didn’t give it a fair shot, but the few jobs and opportunities I had in the industry didn’t last long. They lacked both the potential to speak truth to power that I was hoping for and the ability to earn a decent living. Opportunities outside Journalism materialized in the meantime and I followed them.

I currently own and operate a landscaping and lawn care business. It may not be the dream job, but it’s better than I anticipated it would be. Working outside with my hands and getting to solve unique problems and interact with clients under my own terms isn’t all bad.

Like any job it has its flaws and propensity for bad days, but I’ve learned not to complain. My main gripe being that at times the job leaves me a bit intellectually starved. I have a disposition towards curiosity. That itch was sufficiently scratched with journalism, but not so much currently. Hence the reboot of this blog.

I currently live back in my hometown of Washington, PA with my wife and two young boys. Kids force you to shift your perspective. You see reality through their eyes. You hope to set an example so that they’ll find their passion and bliss. They also make you recognize deficiencies in society and inspire a desire to help correct them in whatever small way you can. Again, hence the reboot of this blog.

Thanks for reading.
