Why Write??

Writing has built into it some degree of arrogance. Why would anyone write about anything unless they were arrogant enough to believe that their perspective was worth another’s time and energy? Unfortunately, I don’t have a sufficient answer to that question.

I will say that I write because I’ve always felt compelled to. I won’t deny there is an element of narcissistic satisfaction to having a piece read by others.  However, I often write without any expectation of an audience.

Most of what I write about isn’t profound or original. I’ll cite my sources and inspirations the best I can. Sometimes I’ll contribute novel ideas and insights, but mostly I’ll be discussing and highlighting the ideas and theories of others that I have found valuable.

I’ll use this tiny platform to write about societal problems and solutions as far as I see them. It is without question that I am no expert, and I’m not claiming that what I write to be the absolute best policy. I will be diligent about posting factually and without conjecture.

This is my attempt to move the needle slightly, and in the smallest of ways contribute to a society I’d like to leave my kids.
